GORN SHEARING by Harold Hunt

For a young boy playing on the banks of the Paroo River outside the western NSW town of Wanaaring in the late 1920’s to shearing the wool for ‘The Golden Bale’ at Hillcrest Bigga in 1964 is just under 40 years.

Not a long time in the general scheme of things but to get there is a journey, especially if you are Aboriginal.

Harold Hunt’s story of the major part of his life is perhaps not a lot different to the lives of many in a similar situation.

It is the way he tells it that is different.
